Quote: We all most have a purpose in life, for no person can live for themselves alone. -Ross Parmenter

Goal: Classify triangles

Activate prior knowledge: we solved for x

Classify triangles by their sides:
  • Isosceles triangles: have at least two sides with the same measure.
  • Equilateral triangles: all sides have the same measurements.
  • Scalene: all sides have different measurements.

Classify triangles by their angles:
  • Acute triangle: all angles are acute(less than 90).
  • Obtuse triangle: one side is obtuse(more than 90).
  • Right triangle: one side is right(exactly 90).

We also identified exterior and interior angles.

Apply: We worked with p.485-486(1-8) as examples on the board.

Homework: p.487(1-10)

Bring a compass

Identify pairs of angles

Apply: Practice Workbook p.129(1-7)

6th A and 6th B

We went to the Colonial Zone, we visited the Panteón Nacional; a guide gave us all the information regarding this place and the persons that are resting there. We went to the Alcazar de Colón, interesting tour that presented us the fact that the people who lived there were not tall. Then we walked to the Catedral Primada de América, we had a nice guide who told us the history behind the Cathedral and the architechture behind this wonderful monument.

Then we went to Parque Independencia, we watched the paintings outside, and we went to see the resting place of Duarte, Sanchez, and Mella.

Quote: To give up the task of reforming society is to give up one's responsibility as a free man. -Alan Stewart.

Goal: Name, measure, and draw angles.

Teacher gave time to complete the homework, it was p.424(22-30).
We read about angles on p.425 and we practiced with exercises on pages 425-426 (1-7)

Homework: p.428(12-21)

Don't forget to bring your protractors.

Goal: Identify special pairs of angles and types of lines.

We began our class correcting the homework, and asked questions about types of angles and pairs of angles.

Today we continue to work with special pairs of angles and lines.

Apply: p.481(1-10)

Homework: p.482(15-24)

Quote: To give up the task of reforming society is to give up one's reponsibility as a free man.-Alan Stewart

Goal: Use a protractor to measure and compare angles.

Activate prior knowledge: Classify angles according to their measures.

New Knowledge: Steps to draw angles

  • Use a ruler to draw a ray.
  • Place the centermark of the protractor on the endpoint of the ray. Align the ray with the 0 marka of one scale on the protractor.
  • Find the angle you are looking for. Mark the spot.
  • Use the ruler to connect this point with the endpoint of the first ray.

Apply: p.397(1-10)

Goal:Use the sine and cosine to find triangle side measures.

Corrected homework: p.496(1-10)

Classwork: p.497(16-25)

Homework: p. 498(26-29)

Check examples given in the book, read before you begin working; make sure you identify the opposite side and the adjacent side of given angles. You can only use the sine, cosine, and tangent ratios on acute angles of right triangles.
