Quote: We must exhange the philosophy of excuse-what I am is beyond my control-to the philosophy of responsibility.- Barbara Charlie Jordan

Goal: Identify similar and congruent figures.

Comparing figures

Two figures are congruent if they have the same size and shape. Two figures are similar if they have the same shape but not necessarily the same size.

Corresponding parts

When two figures are similar, their corresponding angles have the same measure. When two figures are congruent, their corresponding parts have the same measure.
Corresponding parts are the matching sides and angles of two figures.

Goal: Classify triangles by their sides and by their measures.

A triangle is a polygon with three angles and three sides.

Triangles can be classified according to their lengths of their sides:
  • Scalene triangles: all sides have different lengths.
  • Equilateral triangles: all sides have the same lengths.
  • Isosceles triangles: two sides have the same lengths.

Triangles can be classified according to their angles:

  • Acute triangles: all angles are acute; that is, less than 90.
  • Right triangles: one angle is right; that is, 90.
  • Obtuse triangles: one angle is obtuse; that is more than 90.

Angles in a triangle: the interior angles add up to 180.

a + b + c = 180

We went to the Colonial Zone, we visited the Panteón Nacional; a guide gave us all the information regarding this place and the persons that are resting there. We went to the Alcazar de Colón, interesting tour that presented us the fact that the people who lived there were not tall. Then we walked to the Catedral Primada de América, we had a nice guide who told us the history behind the Cathedral and the architechture behind this wonderful monument.

Then we went to Parque Independencia, we watched the paintings outside, and we went to see the resting place of Duarte, Sanchez, and Mella.
