Activate Prior Knowledge: Solve equations p.24(51-56)
New Knowledge:
Rewriting equations with more than one variable:
Method 1: Substitute the value of the variable and then solve the equation.
Method 2: Solve the equation in terms of the variable. Then evaluate the resulting expression using the value given.
Examples:
2x + 5y = 4 to find y when x = -1.
Method 1:
2 (-1) + 5y = 4
-2 + 5y = 4
5y = 4 + 2
5y = 6
y = 6/5
y = 1.5
Method 2:
2x + 5y = 4
5y = 4 - 2x
y= (4 - 2x)/5
y= 4 - 2(-1)/5
y= 6/5
y=1.5
Application:
p.29(12-19)

As I work individually with the exercises I felt . . .
