7th Mistral

The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work.- Harry Golden

Objective: Add integers.

Activate Prior Knowledge: Practice Workbook p.69(1-8)

Skill Practice: p. 277(1-4), p.278(5-9), p.279(6-14), p.280(2-11)(27-52) odd

We began working last class, we continue working with integer addition, remember:
  • If numbers have the same sign you add and copy the sign of the numbers. For example:

6+7=13 two positive numbers

-6+(-7)= -13 two negative numbers

  • If numbers have different signs we subtract, and we copy the sign of the number with the greatest absolute value.

-6+7=1, 7 has a greater absolute value than -6

6+(-7)= -1, -7 has a greater absolute value than 6

Tomorrow we wil complete the skill practice and continue with subtraction of integers.
